The platform team owns the core of Eddy Grid, and you work across all of it: integrations with grid operators.
Job description
As a Software Engineer in the Eddy Grid platform team, you build the systems that let batteries, solar parks and charging stations trade on the energy markets in real time. Your code decides how thousands of kilowatts move every minute, and it helps keep the grid in balance.
AI coding agents are part of how we design, write, review and test software every day, and we build AI tools on top of our own platform. We are looking for someone who wants to push that further.
The platform team owns the core of Eddy Grid, and you work across all of it: integrations with grid operators, market parties such as TenneT, Elia, Nord Pool, ETPA and Equigy, and our customers' energy management systems; the trading engine that steers our customers' assets on the day-ahead, intraday, imbalance and aFRR markets; and the AI tooling that lets colleagues and agents query data, run simulations and handle tickets.
You work in a small team with short lines to trading, operations and sales.
We work hybrid, with 2 days a week at our office in Delft. On Fridays the whole team is together in Utrecht.
We are a fast-growing scale-up, so speed matters. We look for someone who gets something working first, knows which corners can be cut and which can't, and comes back to fix them when it matters.
Job requirements
What you will do
Design, build and maintain integrations with TSOs, market platforms and EMS providers (REST, SOAP, webhooks, message queues).
Develop the trading and control logic that turns market signals into setpoints for real assets.
Build and improve our AI features: our LLM agent framework, search over our wiki and Slack knowledge, and the MCP tools our colleagues use.
Keep our codebase, tests and documentation easy for both people and agents to work in.
Take ownership of production: monitoring, alerts and fixing issues when the markets do not wait.
Work with AI coding agents every day: delegate work to them, steer and review their output, and decide where a human needs to look.
Share knowledge on what works with AI and what does not, through code reviews, pairing and demos.
What you will bring
Experience building production software in Python, with a web framework such as Django (a Ruby background works too).
Hands-on experience building software with AI coding assistants or agents, and a critical eye for their output.
Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases (we use PostgreSQL).
Experience with Git, automated testing and CI/CD.
You like to understand the domain, not only the ticket, and you're comfortable working across the stack and switching context.
You are pragmatic: you know when good enough is good enough, and when it isn't. You take ownership, are curious and proactive, and have no ego.
Strong command of English, spoken and written.
A plus if you
Have worked in the energy sector, on trading systems or with time-series data.
Have experience with background job systems such as Celery and Redis.
Know your way around Docker, AWS and high-availability systems.
Have a university degree.
Not meeting every requirement? Please apply anyway. We value learning potential as much as exact experience (guideline: about 3+ years of professional experience).
